Asian Cultural Festival
Sunday, May 22, 2022
The City of Ocoee is honored to host the Asian Cultural Festival on Sunday, May 22, 2022.
The Asian American Heritage Council AAHC of Central Florida is excited to partner with the city to hold its celebration at the Ocoee Lakeshore Center and Bill Breeze Park. This year’s celebration will showcase a wide variety of Asian American cultures and talents from Central Florida’s Asian American ethnic groups. There will be booths to showcase business vendors, ethnic cuisines and merchandise that are representative of Asia. A cultural show will be presented by the various Asian countries, such as China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and more. For additional information, please contact vendor@vida-florida.org.
The month of May is known as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The City of Ocoee’s Human Relations Diversity Board is hosting its first “Hello Asian American and Pacific Islander Project”. Elementary students will creatively draw the word for “hello” in the primary language of a country/state/territory and the national/state/territorial flower of one of the Asian or Pacific Islands specifically listed by the United States Census Bureau as Asian or Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander. Five Ocoee elementary schools are participating in the art contest: Citrus Elementary, Innovation Montessori Ocoee, Ocoee Elementary, Prairie Lake Elementary and Renaissance Charter at Crown Point. The winners of the competition will be announced in May. They will receive a monetary award in the form of $50 and $100 gift cards.
