The Human Relations Diversity Board's objective is to promote understanding, respect, goodwill, and equality among all citizens and businesses of the City of Ocoee. The HRDB sponsors the city’s MLK Day Parade and Celebration, Black History Month Essay Contest and the Celebrating Diversity Art Contest.
The Board consists of 7 to 13 voting members who serve for a three-year term and may be reappointed as stated in Resolution 2016-009 (PDF). Residence in the city limits is not required for appointment. The Board also includes two non-voting members, who are typically a City staff member and an elected official. Applications for committee membership may be acquired online (PDF) or in person from the City Clerk. Some Boards, such as the Human Relations Diversity Board, are involved in the direct delivery of service to our citizens and must undergo a cursory background check. Use the Volunteer Release-Waiver Form (PDF) to apply for such service.
