Responsibilities
The Ocoee Police K9 Unit members are a part of the patrol division. The K9 Unit conducts tracking for offenders, missing persons, evidence, drugs, and drug paraphernalia, as well as providing back-up assistance to other officers during reports of crimes-in-progress. They are particularly useful at the scene where buildings need to be searched.
These full service teams are state certified in both patrol techniques and narcotics detection.
The members of the K-9 Unit regularly conduct public demonstrations to enhance the public's knowledge of the K9's capabilities while at the same time establishing a higher level of communication with the citizens of Ocoee.
