Mandatory lawn watering restrictions specify the days when you may water in order to help to increase the supply of potable water available to our residents. These days depend on whether you have an odd or even numbered address, and the time of year. Even and Odd address is determined by the last digit of the address number.
Time of Year | Odd Numbered / No Addresses | Even Numbered / Addresses | Non-Residential Properties |
---|---|---|---|
Daylight Saving Time | Wednesday and Saturday | Thursday and Sunday | Tuesday and Friday |
Eastern Standard Time | Saturday | Sunday | Tuesday |
Certain entities such as golf courses, agricultural areas, and high volume sports and recreational facilities have exceptions to these restrictions.
Hand watering with an automatic nozzle is allowed on any day, but not between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Per city ordinance, when installing new sod or landscaping, residents have 30 days during which they may irrigate every day. In order to prevent receiving a watering violation during this period, residents must first coordinate with the Water Conservation Division. Although residents will be exempt from receiving watering violations, they are not exempt from the applicable water rates (PDF). Please note that rates increase proportionally with increased usage, and increased watering will result in a high water bill.
Please compile your name, phone number, address, and any receipts for sod and/or landscape purchases and send the information to the department.
